2026 Holiday Gift Guide for Dogs: Find Their Kind of Fun

Dog with a red West Paw Rowdies Joli toy beside a decorated Christmas tree

The best clue to a great dog gift is already in the toy basket.

Which toy does your dog bring you first? The squeaky one they carry from room to room? The one that makes a satisfying crunch? Or the food puzzle they carefully inspect for one last bite?

For our 2026 holiday gift guide, we're starting there. We've picked gifts for different ways dogs play, from Red Dingo Durables flats and an overlooked Ruff Dawg favorite to new West Paw Toppl colors and the treats that make them ready to enjoy.

Whether you're filling a stocking or putting together a bigger surprise, here's how to find your dog's kind of fun.

Find Your Dog's Gift in a Minute

Before you choose: Match the toy to the dog's size, mouth and play style. A great fetch toy, plush toy or food puzzle isn't automatically the right choice for sustained chewing.

For the Dog Who Loves a Crunch: Ruff Dawg Crinkit

Ruff Dawg Crinkit XL toys in orange, yellow, green and pink

Our hidden-gem gift pick. From $19.95.

If a crunchy sound gets your dog's attention, put the Ruff Dawg Crinkit near the top of the list. Its rubber exterior surrounds a built-in bottle that makes a crinkly, crunchy sound during play. The crinkle is already inside, so you don't need to supply a bottle.

That gives this gift a different feel from the usual squeaky toy. It's a fun choice for supervised games of toss, chase and carry, and it floats for dogs whose holiday plans include warmer weather and water.

  • Choose the size: Crinkit measures 5.5 inches; Crinkit XL measures 9.5 inches. Start with the product's sizing guidance and your dog's mouth size.
  • Why we picked it: A distinctive sound and texture for dogs who enjoy something different in their toy rotation.
  • Gift tip: Choose a bright color, then make the first game together part of the present.

For the Carry-and-Squeak Dog: Red Dingo Durables Flats

Red Dingo Durables Kath the Kangaroo flat plush dog toy

Character-filled gifts for interactive play. $19.99 each for the picks below.

Some dogs want a toy they can parade around the house, shake enthusiastically and bring back for another toss. Red Dingo Durables flats are a thoughtful choice for that dog.

These plush characters combine reinforced stitched seams, a built-in squeaker and Red Dingo's durable fabric. They're machine washable, too, which helps after a few rounds of holiday play.

  • Kath the Kangaroo: a bright, easy-to-spot character measuring 9.3 × 7.3 × 2 inches.
  • Pam the Platypus: a longer shape for dogs who like to carry their prize, measuring 11.2 × 5.7 × 1.9 inches.
  • Wendy the Wombat: a compact character measuring 8.5 × 5.1 × 2.1 inches.

DogTuff gift tip: Pick the shape your dog will enjoy carrying and playing with, then check the dimensions. These are plush toys for supervised interactive fun, not a promise of chew-proof play.

For the Food-Loving Problem Solver: Build a Toppl Gift

A colorful toy, a refill and a tasty finishing touch.

A food puzzle makes a better gift when the recipient can use it right away. Pair a West Paw Toppl with Toppl Treats and a little Buddy Budder peanut butter for dogs for a gift that's ready for its first supervised enrichment session.

1. Choose a Toppl in a Fresh Color

Small West Paw Toppl treat toy in Winter Red

Winter Red brings a festive pop of color to the toy basket. The current Toppl lineup also includes River, Glow and Black, alongside other colors. Check the product page for today's size and color options.

Toppl's inner ridges help hold food in place, and its rounded shape tips and wobbles as your dog works for the reward. Choose the size for your dog first, then the color:

  • Small, 2.5 inches: $20.95; holds approximately ¼ cup.
  • Large, 3.5 inches: $25.95; holds approximately ¾ cup.
  • X-Large, 3.75 inches: $29.95; holds approximately 1¼ cups.

Those are toy capacities, not recommended treat portions. Use an amount appropriate for your dog's diet.

2. Add Beef Recipe Toppl Treats

West Paw Beef Recipe Toppl Treats 8-ounce bag with flower-shaped treats

$14.95 for an 8-ounce bag. These flower-shaped treats are designed around Toppl's inner petals, making them a useful gift for both a first-time Toppl user and a dog who already has one.

Fit them to the toy: use a whole treat flat-side-up in a Large Toppl, break it into about five pieces for a Small, or about two pieces for an X-Large. Adjust portions to your dog and follow the package directions.

3. Finish With Buddy Budder

Buddy Budder Ruff Ruff Raw peanut butter for dogs in a 17-ounce jar

$12.95 for a 17-ounce jar. A small smear of Buddy Budder adds another texture to explore. This peanut butter is made for dogs and contains no xylitol. The jar comes in Bangin Bacon, Barking Banana, Awesome Apple and Ruff Ruff Raw flavors.

Prefer a smaller stocking addition? The 4-ounce Buddy Budder squeeze pouch is $10.99 and makes filling a suitable enrichment toy easy. Keep the pouch and cap out of your dog's reach.

Put it together: Spread a small amount of peanut butter inside the Toppl, add a portion of the dog's usual food if appropriate, and fit the Toppl Treat pieces around the inner petals. Keep the first session easy. For dogs already comfortable with the toy, suitable fillings can be frozen for a different challenge.

A Small Toppl + Toppl Treats + 17-ounce Buddy Budder jar comes to $48.85 before tax and shipping. The same combination with a Large Toppl is $53.85, or $57.85 with an X-Large. Each item is purchased separately.

Already have a Toppl? Wrap the treats and peanut butter as a refill gift. Together, the 8-ounce treat bag and 17-ounce jar are $27.90 before tax and shipping.

For the Dog Who Wants You to Join In: Ruff Dawg Ring

Ruff Dawg Ring toys in bright colors

From $20.95. Some gifts are really an invitation to play together. The Ruff Dawg Ring has a solid rubber ring design, and it works for tug, toss and fetch.

The Dawg-Ring measures 6 × 1.5 inches, and the Dawg-Ring XL measures 8 × 1.5 inches. Both float and bounce and are made in the USA. Choose it for the dog who brings you a toy and waits for you to take the other end.

Gift tip: Keep tug controlled and close to the ground. Let your dog release the toy between rounds, and stop if play gets too intense.

Shopping for Someone Else's Dog?

Ask three quick questions before choosing:

  1. What do they like doing? Carrying a plush friend, crunching, tugging and solving a food puzzle call for different gifts.
  2. How do they use their toys? A dog who fetches gently needs a different match from one who immediately settles down to chew. For a determined chewer, choose a toy specifically intended for that use rather than assuming every toy in this guide is a chew toy.
  3. Are there food restrictions? Check with the dog's person before gifting treats, especially when beef, peanuts or other ingredients are involved.

For help with fit, read how to choose the right size dog toy. Weight is a starting point, but mouth size and play style matter, too.

Make the First Play Session Part of the Gift

Remove wrapping, ribbons, tags and packaging before handing over a new toy. Supervise play, inspect toys regularly and remove damaged toys or loose pieces. No dog toy is indestructible.

Keep treats within your dog's daily food allowance, follow feeding directions and choose ingredients your dog tolerates. Never use peanut butter containing xylitol.

Then enjoy the part that matters most: discovering which gift your dog brings back for one more round.

Happy holidays from the DogTuff Pack!
